LUCKY COAL SHOAP

This remarkably realistic coal-shaped soap is stylishly wrapped in tartan tissue paper and a biodegradable box - the perfect gift to give as part of the Scottish tradition of 'First Footing' at Hogmanay (New Year).

Dating back to the 9th century, tradition states that in order to bring luck in the coming year the first visitor of the new year should be a tall, dark-haired person bringing gifts of salt, shortbread, whiskey and COAL.

You don’t need to be tall or handsome to give this soap containing sea salt and charcoal and fragranced with Valhalla (star anise, black spruce and cedar), and of course you don’t have to wait until Hogmanay, coal is also given as a symbol of warmth, transformation, strength and overcoming obstacles all year long.

Either way, this makes a great present and includes a Scottish New Year message.
